[Unit Project 2] How To Make Fluffy Fried Rice

Fried rice is a Chinese dish consisting of cooked rice stir-fried in oil with various ingredients. Fried rice is a familiar dish in Japan and is famous as one of the familiar Chinese dishes. It is said to have been introduced to Japan by "Japanese envoys to the Tang Dynasty" who went from Japan in the 7th to 9th centuries to learn about the system and culture of the "Tang Dynasty," which is now China. The spread of Chinese restaurants opened by Chinese people who moved to Japan also seems to have played a major role in popularizing fried rice. It is also said to have spread because of its usefulness as a way to cook leftover white rice. By the way, do you know the difference between fried rice and pilaf? Although both pilaf and fried rice are the same rice dish, they differ in origin, preparation, and seasoning. The biggest difference is that pilaf is cooked rice, while fried rice is baked rice.

When I was a child, I used to learn fried rice recipes from my mother. At that time, I still could not crack an egg very well, so I often dropped the contents of the egg on the floor and got angry. But now it is a good memory. Although my fried rice is not as good as my mother's, I can now make fried rice by myself.


 What tools you need


・ Bowl

・ Long chopsticks

・ Wooden spoon

・ Frying pan

・ Plate


 

What ingredients you need (This recipe yields two)


・Rice (2 servings)

・Two eggs 

・Mayonnaise (1 tablespoon)

・Chinese soup stock (1 tsp)

・Soy sauce (1 tsp)

・Sausages and crab sticks (as many as you like)   

・Green onion (as much as you like)

・Salt and pepper (as much as you like)



procedures


1. First, cut the sausages and the crab sticks into small cubes and finely chop the green onion.





2. Next, mix the rice, the eggs, the mayonnaise, and the chinese soup stock in the bowl.




3. When all the rice, the eggs, the mayonnaise, and the chinese soup stock are mixed well, add the little soy sauce and mix.





4. After mixing the mixture, spread the mixture in the frying pan and stir-fry slowly over medium heat.





5. While the fried rice is stir-frying until the fried rice becomes crumbly, add the sliced sausages and crab sticks to the fried rice and mix.




6. After mixing a little more and the fried rice and the ingredients are blended, add the finely chopped green onion and stir-fry some more.





7. Then, add the salt and the pepper.





8. Finally, place on a plate to finish.






Fried rice can be made crumbly or moist depending on the heat, and you can enjoy the difference.

Fried rice may seem like a simple dish. However, there are a wide variety of ingredients that go well with fried rice, from standard ingredients such as eggs, green onion, and ham to more unusual ones such as cheese and natto. You can change up fried rice, which always ends up being the same, by using leftovers from the refrigerator or simply changing the ingredients you stir-fry together.
